Review Groups
Customer Challenges
Too much time is required to review individual scholarship applicants.
Different scholarships may have differing review requirements, nothing is one-size fits all.
Reviewers are often novice technical users, so experience must remain simple for them.
Business Constraints
Two existing review paradigms in the application, adding a third would create unacceptable complexity.
Software development with two review systems is unnecessarily slow as many features need to be built twice.
Review must remain highly flexible as administrators have highly disparate processes that must be accommodated.
Some customers are always in their review process, rollout cannot disrupt a customer mid-review.
Solutions
Review groups was built opt-in to allow for transition at an optimal moment in the customers’ scholarship cycle.
Review groups superseded the prior two review methods, without loss of functionality. Additionally, it was developed using the same underlying database tables to reduce technical complexity and bloat.
New features were added as ‘review group only’ to entice existing customers to make the switch to the new functionality.
Similar review controls existed in review groups as in the prior state.
