Trip to ikea = new curtains!

The previous owners of our place were kind enough to leave behind their window treatments. I think they must have been going for the mustard-and-ketchup look with too-tiny red curtains on our huge sliding glass door, with the yellow walls. See exhibit A: Before (unfortunately I forgot to snap a shot before painting) ...here is the before color, and our paint samples

A trip to ikea and a gallon of paint later and our problem is solved. I'm not exactly sure which way I prefer the curtains yet. I am leaning toward #1, Daniel prefers #2, and #3 is out. I love ikea.

Unclogging our drain - gross!

Even though I've cut my hair shorter, I still shed like a maniac. As in, should-have-been-bald-12-years-ago kind of shedding. This wreaks havoc on our drains, especially since they do not have a "hair trap". A few weeks ago, after getting sick of standing in a bathtub full of water during showers, Daniel decided to give the old drain-o a try. The tub drained noticeably faster, but still was not 100%. "Oh well, that will have to be good enough." Later that week we were browsing Walmart and stumbled across the greatest inventions ever. At $2.47, we had to give it a try. I introduce..... the Zip It.

It is a long, think plastic "arm" with little spikes along each side. You push it down into the drain as far as it will go, and it grabs all the hair and gunk on the way out. Here is what ours pulled out in one try (AFTER the drain-o)

Disgusting? Absolutely. Amazing? Yes. I have found my new love.

Shazam!

I have an app installed on my iPhone called Shazam, it made news when it debuted some 2 years (or more?) ago. Basically, you hit a button in the app and it beings recording audio. In a store and want to know what that song is? QUICK SHAZAM! Holy sweet mother of 1990's I REMEMBER THIS SONG - wait what was it called again? SHAZAM!

We don't really use it all that often, but I was looking through it today and thought it would make an amusing listen for our readers (or lack thereof).

There is likely a more effective method of linking these.. I'll work on that, but for the time being, here they are. Don't laugh too hard.

P.S. Two One of the songs I couldn't find right away in some free - legal - streameable - format I'll add them if I find them it somewhere
